Abstract Nowadays appropriate waste management, along with efficient use of natural resources and implementing the concept of circular economy are an issue of high concern. The aim of the research was to synthesize geopolymers showing insulating properties, with specific strength and refractoriness parameters. For this purpose, waste from the energy sector was used which is produced in large quantities. For the synthesis of geopolymers perlite additive was used, the literature on the subject indicated that its addition had a positive effect on the refractoriness of the obtained materials. The SII4 geopolymer fully meets the requirements for thermal insulation in Poland (0.086?W/m?K), as a material for single-layer walls. Of the two variables analyzed in the study, i.e., the influence of the mixture composition on the synthesis and the curing temperature of the geopolymer, only the first had a significant influence on the value of the thermal conductivity coefficient.Graphical abstract
