This is the season of company reports: the major aluminium groups too are publishing their annual results for 2020 and it is hardly surprising that owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, turnovers and profits are down compared with the year before. The producers of primary aluminium were confronted with somewhat lower metal prices. On the other hand the cost of the raw material alumina, which fell by around a fifth, developed favourably for them.
