A carbon-neutral world by 2050 to 2060, pledged by the world biggest economies, represents a new dimension for global behaviour and economic activity in the coming decades and marks the pathway for this century. The year 2020 appears to be a turning point for achieving this goal, after China's President Xi Jinping committed his country to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 in September 2020 at the UN General Assembly, with emissions to peak by 2030. It was good news for China and for the global fight to limit global warming to +1.5℃. An analysis of China's carbon emission strategy is presented in this article.
