Hainan has become the first Chinese province to announce a target date of ending oil-powered vehicle sales by 2030. The provincial government aims to replace fossil fuel-powered vehicles with new energy vehicles (NEVs). To promote the adoption of NEVs the provincial government is offering a subsidy of 10K yuan ($1,414) to buyers of NEVs. The province expects to have 30K NEVs in use this year, and build over 28K charging points for these vehicles this year.
