The P84 HT polyimide fiber from Evonik Industries AG, Essen/Germany, has been certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 for skin contact applications and has been classified as harmless to health. Polyimide fibers are thermostable and non-flammable; they retain their flexibility even at 280 ℃. As a result, they remain more durable than standard materials in applications with higher average temperatures and frequent temperature spikes. In addition, the new P84 HT fiber features very good insulation properties, breathability and a pleasant feel against the skin, and is up to 30 lighter than aramid fibers. By obtaining the globally recognized label, Evonik aims to establish the P84 HT fiber as a new quality standard in the textile industry for protective clothing.
