The target design of single-atom catalysts (SACs) is crucial in the field of electrocatalysis but remains challenging. In this issue of Chem Catalysis, Zeng et al. report a general and facile strategy for synthesizing a series of metal SACs on nitrogen-doped carbon (M-1-CN, M = Mo, Fe, Ru, Mn, Co, Cu, Pt, Ni) to tune their rate-determining step (RDS) for uric acid electrooxidation, resulting in a praiseworthy analytical performance.
