Reactivity of pymS-SnPh3(pymS = pyrimidine-2-thiolate) towards two unsaturated triosmium clusters Os-3(CO)(10)(mu-H)(2) and Os-3(CO)(8){mu(3)-Ph2PCH2P(Ph)C6H4}(mu-H) are investigated. Reaction of pymS-SnPh(3)with Os-3(CO)(10)(mu-H)(2) affords Os-3(CO)(10)(mu-pymS)(mu-H) (1) and Os-3(CO)(9)(mu(3)-pymS)(mu-H) (2), while with Os-3(CO)(8){mu(3)-Ph2PCH2P(Ph)C6H4}(mu-H) leads to the isolation of only Os-3(CO)(8)(mu-pymS)(mu-H)(mu-dppm) (3). In both reactions, the products are formed via incorporation of the thiolate part (pymS) of pymS-SnPh(3)into the parent clusters through Sn-S bond cleavage. Clusters1-3have been characterized by a combination of analytical and spectroscopic data together with single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Graphic Reactions of pymS-SnPh(3)with two unsaturated triosmium clusters have been investigated which resulted in the isolation and characterization of three triosmium clusters containing a pymS ligand.
