With an annual production capacity of more than 1.54m tonnes, Aluminium Bahrain BSC (Alba) is the largest aluminium smelter in the world outside of China. Since 1971, Alba has been a key part of Bahrain's economy and has made significant contributions to Bahrain's social, industrial and economic progress. The chairman of Alba's board of directors, Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa, inaugurated Alba's Spent Potlining (SPL) treatment plant in December 2021 at its premises and announced the commissioning of the zero-waste plant - the first-of-its-kind in the region.
