During 2022, FAA implemented noise and emissions-reducing Optimized ProfileDescents (OPDs), also known as Continuous Descent Approaches, at 11 airports,the agency said Jan. 30.While FAA focused on the aircraft emissions reductions provide by OPDs inits announcement, it should be noted that OPD procedures also can reduce aircraftnoise on approach by 3-6.5 dB on the ground near airports.
