Millennium Space was awarded a contract from Space Systems Command's Space Safari Office in October 2022 to demonstrate the ability for a satellite and launch vehicle to be mated, encapsulated, launched and placed into low-Earth orbit within 24 hr. of being called upon. The U.S. Space Force wants to be able to rapidly launch new satellites in response to orbiting threats. Millennium Space, owned by Boeing, is to deliver the Victus Nox satellite (Latin for "conquer the night") in April 2023, eight months after it was tasked with the program. Millennium says it is pulling a satellite off its production line to meet the rapid timeline and adds that by being "80 vertically integrated," it can better control costs, schedule and technical aspects of the satellite design. The small satellite will have a space domain awareness mission once on orbit.
