The IEEE Power Energy Magazine January/February 2022 issue focusing on the topic of fire is timely. The IEEE Power Energy Society (PES) is to be commended for putting together this issue, and the authors demonstrate a deep understanding of the topics they are addressing. The content of the contributions is very interesting, especially because the authors provide actual results from innovations introduced by electric utilities from many parts of the world. It is my hope that the data presented in the issue will be included in PES peer-reviewed special publications and transaction papers. This information is desperately needed to guide the industry toward safer electric transmission and distribution systems. However, in some areas, the claims are possibly exaggerated, or the analysis is incomplete.
