摘要

The US Department of Interior has reinstated a 2013 land management plan for the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska,or NPR-A,revoking a plan put in place in 2020 by former President Donald Trump's administration. The action was widely expected after a January announcement by Interior Secretary Deb Haaland that the Trump plan was to be reviewed.Trump's 2020 plan opened about 18 million acres of the reserve's 23 million acres to to oil and gas exploration. The new plan announced April 25 removes about 6 million acres and returns the acreage open to exploration to 12 million acres available in the 2013 plan.Under Trump's plan, about 80 percent of NPR-A was available. The 2013 plan, but in place by Sally Jewell, former Interior secretary under Present Barack Obama, had about 50 percent of lands in the reserve available.
