Rusal to invest 4.5bn roubles in smelter modernization: Rusal will invest 4.5bn roubles ({EUR}50m) this year in the modernization of the Sayanogorsk and Khakas Aluminium smelters. Most of the outlay will be used to upgrade the production of electrodes, install new equipment in the casthouse division and improve the energy efficiency of facilities. At the Sayanogorsk smelter (see photo), Rusal will continue with the large-scale modernization of anode baking furnaces at the electrode production facility. The new equipment will reduce the smelter's impact on the environment, increase energy efficiency and improve the quality of products. Completion of construction and installation work on this project is scheduled for the end of 2023.
