In recent years, Machine Learning has had a significant impact on many industrial processes and technologies. With its inherent ability to automatize processes and to adapt to new data, it provides various benefits for a wide range of applications. One of the methodological paradigms in this field, Deep Learning, has provided many solutions to problems in quality control and automation, since it is well adapted to analyze high-dimensional inputs such as image data. In this talk, we'll review technological developments that contributed to the success of Deep Learning, and show selected applications.
