China’s domestic coal prices declined this week, pressured by ample supply and high utility stocks, despite an increase in power consumption in southeast China. Argus assessed prices of NAR 5,500 kcal/kg coal at 558.2 yuan/t fob Qinhuangdao today, down by Yn12.72/t from last week. In dollar terms, the price declined by $1.25/t on the week to $80.42/t fob. Buyers cut their bidding prices to as low as Yn555/t fob north China ports this week, while offers were around Yn560-567/t fob.
