The Latest: 4iG, a Hungary-based ICT and telecoms services provider, has acquired 80.27 of Albanian operator ALBtelecom for an undisclosed sum. The seller, Turkish conglomerate ?alik Holding, will acquire 3 of 4iG when the deal closes in early 2022. Implications: With this transaction, 4iG is increasingly cementing its position as a regional leader in the Western Balkans, evolving from a local ICT solutions provider into a prolific regional investor that aims to integrate both traditional telecoms services and advanced ICT offerings. In November 2021, 4iG closed the acquisition of DIGI’s operations in Hungary; it is also expected to buy Telenor Montenegro at-end 2021, its first international telco acquisition.
