Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, is a megacity in South Asia with a metropolitan population of 17 mill, and stable economic growth with 6 annual average. To solve urban problems such as increased traffic demand due to population growth, traffic congestion and air pollution, the first MRT development was started in 2014 as Japanese ODA Loan project. The planning, design and construction supervision have been progressing to date. The project is currently targeting for a partial opening in the end of 2022. This article describes the progress of the project.
