INCREASING amounts of ethanol in unleaded petrol have created problems for classic car owners. The larger amount of moisture attracted can corrode fuel systems, but Castrol has just launched its solution: Etha-Guard Plus. The additive goes in the tank and lets owners use both E5 super unleaded and E10 unleaded by counteracting ethanol's hygroscopic nature. This prevents moisture saturating the ethanol and dropping out of safe suspension in the fuel. This can lead to corrosion in cars left unused for long periods. Each 250ml bottle will treat 250 litres of fuel, and Castrol claims the included friction modifier can improve economy and acceleration.
