With potential disease outbreaks and multiple site production in mind, it is time to take another look at biosecurity in pig protection. There are four main factors to consider in Biosecurity: Location; Pigs; People; Vehicles and Vectors. Avoid otherpigs whenever possible. Distances quoted are to aim for 3 to 5 km but there is no hard and fast rule, as wildborne disease can travel many kilometers.
