Dear Editor We were excited to read the article by Zhang et al. (2022) assessing teaching methods utilised by popular medical podcasts in the US and their evaluation of pedagogical aspects. As medical students, and regular users of medical podcasts, we wanted to add to the literature by outlining three ways in which podcasts have positively contributed to our medical education. Firstly, the content of podcasts adds a new dimension to medicine that cannot be obtained through textbooks; you become an audience member to a virtual storyteller. These podcasts have a predominantly 'easily digestible' format meaning that they are applicable throughout medical school. With content being added daily, one can remain up to date with guidelines, new discoveries and cutting-edge practices. Secondly, the format of podcasts facilitates 'on-the-go' learning. Time is a precious commodity as medical students, and the ability to combine daily activities such as commuting or doing chores with learning is a huge benefit. A survey by Lee et al. (2022) found that, within their sample, 81 of healthcare professionals listened to podcasts, indicating the popularity of this format. Podcasts can turn an everyday, mundane activity into a fun, educational one.
