Orders for Airbus' newest helicopter, the H160, may be flowing in, but despite production beginning to surge, deliveries of the new-generation twin-engine medium rotorcraft are not keeping pace. With orders for around 90 helicopters now recorded, including 52 in 2021 alone, just one of the helicopters has been delivered since the company gained European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification in the summer of 2020. The launch customer for the aircraft should have been a private entity in the U.S., but a setback in securing FAA certification for the helicopter has meant that U.S. customers and the airframer have been left in a holding pattern.
