Nursing programs are seeing a surge in student admissions despite the pandemic. Nationwide enrollment increased by 5.6, with 251,145 students enrolling in baccalaureate nursing programs (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2021). Unfortunately, as student enrollment rises, nursing educators are declining (Li et al., 2018), which presents staffing challenges for clinical rotations. As a result, Adjunct Clinical Instructors (ACI) are being used at The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing to train students during prelicensure clinical rotations. However, the ACI is often unavailable to teach consecutive semesters due to primary work or personal obligations, resulting in inconsistent and often inexperienced instructors. To ensure quality learning experiences, frequent and timely communication between the course manager (CM) and ACI is essential.
