It has been proved that watching natural images, videos of natural environments and window views of natural environments has positive and beneficial impacts on both physiological and psychological health. But the nature is the complex composed by elements including light, wind, sound, etc., the situations are different in different locations and experiments examining health beneficial effects with pictures can only reveal the results with limited representativeness. This study attempted to understand the effects by doing the experiments in-situ. This study aimed to understand what are the health beneficial effects in four specific therapeutic agricultural landscapes in terms of physiological and psychological measurement. This study conducted experiments in five sites, four farms, and one urban patio site as a control group. The physiological health was measured by heart rate, electroencephalography and electromyography; the psychological measurement included perceived restoration, landscape preference, and emotion. The results of heart rate, electroencephalography, and electromyography were significantly different in five sites, and for psychological results, the perceived restoration and emotion were significantly different in five sites. The results proved that farms had better health beneficial effects then urban environments, and the results also provide strong evidence to support the therapeutic effects of the landscapes in farms.
