The Latest: British Telecom (BT) has signed an agreement with Ericsson to provide commercial private 5G networks in the UKmarket for an undisclosed sum. As part of the agreement, BT will sell Ericsson’s network technology products to enterprises inverticals including manufacturing and academia.Implications: According to the operator’s announcement, BT will be the first in the UK to launch commercial private 5G services.Despite having been discussed as one of the main monetisation sources of the newer technology, commercial private 5Gnetworks are still a nascent trend in Europe, with few countries moving from the testing phase.
