Fruit trees are usually formed by a combination of scion and rootstock, therefore a good union between the scion and rootstock is necessary. Rootstocks of different genetic origin have an influence on the vigour, yield, phenology and fruit quality of peach trees. The influence of various rootstocks for peach (Prunus persica L.) planted in virgin and replant soil on vigour, orchard productivity and fruit quality were investigated in Fruit Growing Centre Bilje near Nova Gorica from 2008 to 2014. The 'Royal Glory' scion cultivar was grafted on various rootstocks: 'GF 677', peach seedling, 'Monegro', 'Barrier', 'Cadaman', 'Adesoto', 'Mrs 2/5', 'Julior', 'Isthara', 'Penta' and 'Tetra'. Rootstock had significant influence on the circumferences of individual trees, crown volume, number of fruits per tree, yield per tree and per hectare and also on fruit quality (fruit dimensions, soluble solids content, firmness). The most vigorous trees were in virgin and replant soil on 'Cadaman', 'Monegro', 'Barrier' and 'GF 677' rootstocks. 'Isthara', 'MrS 2/5' and 'Penta' rootstocks in replant conditions and 'Isthara', 'MrS 2/5', 'Penta', 'Tetra' and 'GF677' in virgin soil showed the greatest potential.
