Sliplining and compression fit lining are two tried-and-true ways to repair pipes.They both involve repairing a host pipe by inserting a new pipe into it. Let's take a closer look at the two methods.Sliplining is one of the oldest methods of trenchless rehabilitation, tracing back to the 1940s. It involves inserting a new pipe into an existing pipe that's in need of repair, whether it's continuous or in segments. The space between the two pipes is then grouted, sealing the ends. Its strength is one of its highest assets."One of the greatest advantages of sliplining is the structural strength," says Kimberly Paggioli, P.E., vice president of marketing and quality control, Hobas Pipe USA. "Many rehabilitation methods are just coatings or linings that are dependent on the host. Sliplining with Hobas is a stand-alone product. The high-strength material also means the pipe wall cross-section is thinner and allows for the greatest flow recovery."
