The cycle starting with creating new sheetmetal forming technology and ending with use in the press shop requires a minimum of four stages: Create the new technology; Convert this technology into a practical format usable by the press shop; Make the practical technology available to the end user (transferring); Implement the technology into daily press-shop operations. This month step three will be discussed-the problem of making the technology available to the end user or press shop. The other steps will be discussed in future columns. Important technology-transfer vehicles are conferences, seminars, symposiums and other similar gatherings of teachers and learners. Key benefits of these meetings are: Distillation of information down to a digestible form; Presentation of information using understandable graphs, charts and diagrams; Interactive discussion between teacher and learner for clarification; Material you can take back to your company.
