摘要

Echinolaena ecuadorianasp. nov. from the provinces of El Oro and Guayas in Ecuador is described and compared withE. standleyi. A key to the New World species ofEchinolaenais provided, as well as illustration of the inflorescences and spikelets of all the 6 New World species (E. ecuadoriana, E. gracilis, E. inflexa, E. minarum, E. oplismenoides, andE. standelyi).
