India's earnings from jute goods exports estimated on the basis of mill dispatches during April-November 2004 and returns of jute mills are lower at Rs 452.9 crore and equivalent to about $100 million in dollar terms, compared to Rs. 589.3 crore and $120 million during the corresponding period in 2003. In quantity, exports from the domestic jute industry have also declined to 1,36,700 tonnes in 2004 from 1,60,900 tonnes in 2003 for the same period.
