abstract_textpA report is given of a case of mycetoma in an 8-year-old Jura hound bitch. The clinical examination revealed an indurative swelling, which adhered to the muscular planes and was fistulised. Cytological and histological examination indicated the presence of actinomycetes and non-filamentous bacteria. Both the morphology and the tinctorial properties of the actinomycete observed suggested that it belonged to the Nocardia genus, although bacteriological isolation proved to be impossible. A relapse occurred after 75 days of antibiotherapy. Complete recovery was ensured by surgical resection and a further treatment against infection lasting four months. The successive histopathological examinations showed that within the granules there were dense bacterial populations isolated from the surrounding pyogranuloma persisting after antibiotherapy./p/abstract_text
