Abstract:In this study, we further investigated a possible link between activation of cell‐mediated immunity and anaemia in patients with haematological neoplasias. We compared serum concentrations of interferon‐gamma and neopterin with haemoglobin levels. Significantly increased interferon‐gamma and neopterin concentrations indicated persistent activation of cell‐mediated immunity. Neopterin levels correlated significantly to interferon‐gamma concentrations and inversely to haemoglobin levels.
