One of the Web's great accomplishments (along with animated ads and worldwide viruses) has been to reinforce the notion that all information ought to be free. You can't deny that the Web has delivered the goods. For whatever reason--as a public service, to promote something, to sell ads--information producers of all kinds have moved vast quantities of free content onto the Web.
