The Nizhnii Ufalei granitoid massif is located in the central Ufalei Zone, which represents a block between the continental margin and relicts of oceanic structural features. According to 3, 7, the western part of this zone is a margin of the Russian Platform, whereas the eastern part is a deep section of an intensely deformed subduction zone of the Urals. Other authors regard this block as an allochthonous exotic terrane that is not related to the Urals. It is suggested that the Ufalei Zone acquired its present-day appearance as a result of accretion, rifting, subduction, and collision. In our opinion, it is impossible to establish relationships between these processes in the absence of a reliable timing of metamorphic and igneous rocks.
