After coming in for strong criticism from Congress about the state of its science and technology program, the U.S. Air Force is taking steps to try and allay lawmakers' concerns. "A number of members of the Senate Armed Services Committee are deeply concerned about what they see being the current trends in the Air Force's science and technology program," says Peter Levine, the counsel for Democrats on the committee. "In times of tight budgets, all accounts must be closely examined," he conceded, but "unfortunately the Air Force science and technology account appears to have fallen more than others."
