A simple new design for a highhyphen;pressure magnetic pump is described. The pump requires minimal machining, requires no lubricant or seals, and uses no special alloys, resins or polymer components, internally. The pump described could circulate supercritical carbon dioxide and methanol mixtures satisfactorily and could achieve pumping rates of 200hyphen;cm3/min water at atmospheric pressure and 30hyphen;cm water head. The pump is assembled primarily from commercially available parts at a total 1989 cost of approximately dollar;300 plus the cost of the motor and drive.
