AbstractPP969 is a novel 1,4‐ketol compound containing the 1,2,4‐triazole ring which has high systemic activity against a variety of fungal pathogens. It is a single diastereoisomer whose absolute configuration has been determined by X‐ray analysis. The fungicidal activities of the structurally related 1,4‐dione and 1,4‐diols were found to be much less than that of PP969.
