What a year it has been…and it's so hard to believe that the end of 2002 draws near. Snow flies, the earth freezes…steel prices remain astronomical, metalforming businesses continue to creak along. What a year it has been, indeed. Let's hope that 2003 brings relief. Most if not all of you won't see this until after you've enjoyed spending the Thanksgiving holiday with your families and friends. But as I sat to ponder this column, a letter from a reader prompted me to reflect on what it is we are thankful for, outside the businesses we all tend to. The reader who wrote me said, in response to last-month's editorial column in which I discussed our children's educational system: "As I grow older, I realize that there is so much more to life than tonnage and thousandths."
