AbstractTests have been developed to enable growers to choose pesticides that spare the natural enemies of pests. The test forAleochara bilineatais carried out in glass cells, and forPhytoseiulus persimilison detached bean leaves; both expose the laboratory‐reared arthropods to a fresh, uniform pesticide residue under standardised conditions. The duration of the tests is 1 and 2 weeks, respectively.
