In addition to pure pricing pressure, a new trend impacts metal fabricators: Customers of stamping/forming operations require their suppliers to add welding operations, despite the fact that they have never before done so. Forward-looking shops, such as CFC Wireforms, Batavia, IL, are responding. CFC, a 16-year-old precision metalforming shop founded, and still managed by, father-and-son team Casey and Frank Czekajlo, supplies major automotive, lawn-and-garden and household-appliance companies.
