ESR spectra of whole rat tissues have been compared at low and roomtemperatures, and the effects of temperature variation on line widths and saturationmeasured. It is concluded that the two major factors accounting for the differencesin spectra above and below freezing are line broadening with temperature and changeof spin state through 273 K. It is also concluded from the saturation studies that nofree radical artefacts are produced by the freezing method.
