The phone rings on a Sunday evening and it is someone with tooling problems. Evidently, a stamping die with a forming issue was in tryout for 14 months. About 7-million dollars later, my phone rings. "The tool has issues and we hear you can fix it. Personally, I don't think the problem is solvable," the caller says. "If you don't think it can be fixed, then why are you calling me?" I respond. "The shop we hired to design and build the tool had every consultant, expert and die guy they could find look at it to no avail," he explained. "You were recommended to us as a last-ditch effort before we take the job to another shop and start from scratch."
