By implementing a highly automated die-design process, a Canadian tool and die shop has slashed design time by 50 percent and brought a new level of machine efficiency. For more than 30 years, 150-employ-ee-strong Verbom Inc., Valcourt, Quebec, Canada, has specialized in design and manufacture of tools and dies. Verbom's president, Yvon Laplante, has focused a great deal of effort at using technology to make his company more competitive with overseas shops, with much of the effort directed at the design process.
