The 64th Pitti Immagine Uomo, held at Florence on June 19-22, registered a 15 increase in the number of Italian buyers, at 13,697 as against 11,910 in June 2002, and foreign buyers 10.5 up at 8,662. The final attendance figure, at a record 22,359, is 13 up, making the sixth summer Pitti Uomo running to register an increase in buyers. Pitti Uomo, the opening appointment of the textile and clothing season, is the first "test", say the organisers, for understanding the mood of the market and trends, and the occasion for making the first forecasts for the current year. The signals from Florence were positive, supported by an offer of collections at once complete and rigorously selected, by the quality of the presentations, where a wealth of diverse styles and trends unite, and by the capacity for interaction between communication and marketing to promote events and enhance the trade fair.
