Magnetic properties of a structurally four-spin system SrCo2(PO4)(2) are firstly investigated by means of susceptibility, magnetization, and heat capacity measurements. Our experimental results show that SrCo2(PO4)(2) is a typical three-dimensional antiferromagnet with a magnetic ordering at T-N = similar to 23 K. Although Co2+ ions of SrCo2 (PO4)(2) have a high spin state and exhibit a large orbital moment contribution in an oxygen octahedral environment, similar to those of (Ba, Sr, Pb)Co-2(VO4)(2), field-induced magnetic transitions are not observed.
