An investment in automated bending and punching/shearing technology allows job ship Estes Design Manufacturing to compete on tight-tolerance high-volume jobs.Looking to turn a profit on high-volume and some lower-volume precision bending jobs, Estes Design Manufacturing, Inc., Indianapolis, IN, has incorporated automated bending equipment into its range of capabilities. In 1994, the company purchased its first automated bending machine from Salvagnini America, Inc., Hamilton, OH. Impressed with its performance, Estes returned to buy more from the bending - and punching - equipment supplier.Now, Estes boasts three Salvagnini benders designed to handle mild steel to a thickness of 14-gauge. In addition, the job shop employs two 30-ton Salvagnini CNC- punching and shearing systems.
