摘要

George Products Co., Middletown, DE, looking to gain job-setup efficiencies, has switched from mechanical to hydraulic presses. The company converted over the past 10 years, replacing its 24 mechanical machines with nine Model-HPB hydraulic presses from Greenerd Press and Machine. The last three, two 7-ton and one 15-ton, were added within this past year. Besides reducing the number of presses needed, the switch brought reduced setup times, from an average of 45 mm. to less than 20 mm. for the short- and long-run part producer. George Products gears its work toward smaller parts from a range of stock material, with typical part diameters to 6 in. and depths to 3 in. Part thickness ranges from 0.20 to 0.50 in. with drawn parts ranging from 0.005 to 0.050 in. thick. Markets served include medical, aerospace, electron-tube and x-ray.
