We describe in this paper a simple device which facilitates the measurement and recording of the response curve of vibrating systems. The method utilizes a digital counter to measure the period and a peak detector to measure the amplitude of vibration. Applications of the method to record the steadyhyphen;state and transient response of linear and nonlinear vibrating systems are given.
