Italy-based Sictra has introduced a patented design which is said to increase the reliability and profitability of its multiwire continuos annealer by introducing wear compensation.This design is based on a compensator, which independently controls the contact rings, and includes a sensor, which continuously calculates the wear value via a reactive circuit controlling the linear ring speed. By separately driving the capstan and contact rings, it is possible to compensate in real time for the elongation of the wire being manufactured by increasing the speed of the required ring.
