AbstractThe migration of several low molecular weight model solutes through a polypropylene/polyolefin blend was examined via a permeation‐cell experimental design. Diffusion coefficients and permeation rates are obtained for the model solutes. The permeation rates exhibit Arrenhius‐type behavior. A bimodal permeation model is proposed wherein the permeation rate is correlated with the linear combination of a solute's Permicor constant and solute/polymer equilibrium interaction constant. The model effectively predicts the behavior of the polymer and solutes studied. The implication of the observed behavior to container compatibility assessment is discus
