The effects of fuel and oil structure on the product gas emissions from a combustion bomb are studied for various fuel-oil systems. Five oils (a synthetic motor oil, a petroleum-based motor oil, an oxypolypropylene oil, an oxypolyethylene-polypropylene oil, and glycerol) were tested in combination with two fuel blends (ethane-ethanol and ethane-methanol). Gas samples from the reactor were analyzed by gas chromatography and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
